"Vinnie and the family ask for privacy while they go through an understandable period of mourning during this devastating time."

The couple each fought their own cases of melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, in 2013.

Ms Jones underwent a heart transplant at 21 and was later treated for cervical cancer twice.

"Tanya had been ill for quite a while. But the last two or three weeks her condition really deteriorated. Vinnie has been by her bedside. It’s heartbreaking news,” a source told the publication.

Vinnie – who is best known for his roles in Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels – reportedly returned to the United States from the UK when his wife’s condition took a serious downturn.

The couple were married in Watford in 1994 and moved to LA where Vinnie pursued his acting career.
