London Zoo's Baby Okapi Named Meghan in Celebration of Royal Wedding

A baby okapi, born in London Zoo on December 9, 2017, was bestowed with the name Meghan, in celebration of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s forthcoming wedding in 2018.

After a 14-month gestation, first-time mum Oni gave birth to the okapi calf. London Zoo said the birth had extra significance because okapis, an endangered species, were first brought to the world’s attention by another Harry, Sir Harry Johnstone, in 1901.
