Jacinda Arden Holds Rally a Week Before General Election

New Zealand Labour Party leader Jacinda Arden held a rally on the University of Otago campus in Dunedin on Friday, September 15.

“We are so close to having an opportunity to change New Zealand’s history,” said Arden, who was in a tight race with Prime Minister Bill English.

The general election will be held on September 23 but early voting has already begun, and the race seems to be a toss-up. A “poll of polls” published by Stuff.co.nz put the centre-left Labour at 38.1 percent on Thursday, behind centre-right National Party at 43.3 percent. However, a New Zealand Herald election forecast predicted a Labour victory. Credit: Jacinda Arden via Storyful
