Shocking video captures man’s very close call with train
CCTV has captured the terrifying moment a man and a speeding train almost collided.
Footage, posted by British Transport Police to Facebook, shows the man casually crossing the train’s tracks after forcefully opening the barrier.
Just as he’s about to reach the other side, he glances to his left and sees the speeding train, forcing him to run out of the way.
“This man lifted a level crossing barrier, wandered across the track and missed a passing train by less than a second,” British Transport Police wrote on Facebook.
The footage captured on May 5 just before 6am has attracted more than 2,000 shares online, with hundreds of people reacting to the chilling video.
“The driver must have closed his eyes to avoid what could have been a lot worse,” one person wrote.
“What a complete muppet,” another said.
“Nearly lost his life over a few seconds and would have destroyed the life of the train driver,” one user wrote.
“Don't be like this man. We have other things to deal with at the moment,” police wrote.
“And we cannot stress enough how dangerous this behaviour is,” they added.
