Victoria's daily cases almost halve after highest spike this year

Victoria has recorded 14 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, all linked to known outbreaks.

The Victorian Department of Health said 10 of the new cases were in quarantine for the entirety of their infectious period.

The state said in the past 24 hours 14,302 vaccine doses had been administered.

The state recorded 26 locally-acquired cases on Thursday, all linked to the current outbreak which originated in NSW.

Thursday's total was the highest number of cases Victoria has reported this year, though authorities are confident they are ahead of the outbreak.

Cases have been identified beyond Melbourne, as far north as Mildura, while the entire state remains in lockdown.
