Protesters clash outside Milo Yiannopoulos' Melbourne show
Protestors have clashed in violent scenes outside a Melbourne venue hosting controversial far right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos.
The fight broke out between two separate groups outside the Melbourne Pavilion Centre in Flemington on Monday night.
It appeared men in high-vis jumpers disrupted people protesting Yiannopoulos' show.
A giant Nazi flag was used as a stick to beat people up.
There were about 45 Victoria Police officers present. They used capsicum spray, and have since split the crowd.
People lined up to get into the venue remained quiet.
Approaching Critical, a Melbourne social justice group, tweeted that more than 300 of its protestors were present outside the venue just after 7pm.
It’s not the first time Yiannopoulos has courted controversy.
In February a riot broke out at the University of California where he was touring a show.
The riot promoted US President Donald Trump to threaten to pull funds from the university for not allowing “free speech”.
If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view - NO FEDERAL FUNDS?
