Fears Melbourne mum 'disorientated' when she went missing from holiday home

A missing Melbourne mum's dog has been found safe in a neighbour's yard after it was last spotted with the woman Saturday night.

Mother-of-three Elisa Curry, 42, is believed to have set off for a run with the black labrador at 10.30pm Saturday at Aireys Inlet, south of Geelong.

She was alone Saturday while the rest of the family were at the AFL Grand Final to cheer on Richmond.

When they returned home Sunday morning, Mrs Curry and the dog were gone. Why she went out so late at night remains a mystery.

The dog was found about 6pm on Monday in a neighbour's backyard, police say, while the desperate search continues for Mrs Curry.

Search crews continue to look for the Surrey Hills woman who was in contact with her family on the night she went missing.

"It's odd that she was communicating with family as of 10.30pm but has not been seen since," Senior Sergeant Robert Wilby said.

Her mobile phone goes straight to voicemail.

Mrs Curry's belongings remain at the holiday home from where she left, police say.

"Investigators believe that Elisa may have gone for a run and has become disorientated," police said in a statement.

He said she could have gone out to one of the area's running or walking tracks and become injured.

Neighbour Robbie Briggs told 7 News he last saw Ms Curry on Friday.

"[She is a] very devoted loving mother and loved coming down here,” he said.

"I couldn't believe the way she's just disappeared."

Air and land searches by police and SES volunteers have failed to find the mother.

The search resumed at 8am on Tuesday and police released an image of her in the hope someone recognises her and calls triple-0.
