Young employee cops expletive-laden, abusive rant from manager
A young Melbourne restaurant worker has secretly recorded her boss's expletive-laden rant as he yelled at her, called her names and eventually fired her for "not doing anything".
Brooke Hubbard, of Langwarrin in Victoria, posted a video capturing the man's abusive phone call to her Facebook page on Wednesday.
It has already received more than 265,000 views and more than 3,000 comments.
In the recording, Brooke can be heard telling her manager that she had just come back from a break and was now cleaning up the store.
The employer tells her that he had been watching her on the store's CCTV cameras.
"How many times do you think I've rung the diner in the last 45 minutes?" he asked her.
Brooke responds in the video: "What? I've been on break and I've just come back in".
The boss says: "You know what I was saying the other day ... a picture says more than a thousand words".
"Do you know how often people f****n try to bulls*** me, thinking that I am as dumb as they f****n are?
"I've got someone on the way there now. Alright?" the boss said.
He also said: "I've called 15 f****n times and nobody answered!"
"It's been a real f****n pleasure knowing you. You're gone! You're out!"
A clearly upset, Brooke says: "Now? So I don't have a job?".
The boss responds that he is not going to pay employees to stand around and do nothing while the phone rings.
He then calls Brooke and the other employees c***s and tells her she will remain "low paid" and is going down the same path as other "dips***s".
At this point Brooke says: "How? I've literally just come in, I've mopped the floor, I've cleaned out the front, I'm doing the napkins, I've done dishes."
When Seven News Online contacted the eatery an employee of the business said a manager was not available and there would be no comment on the video.
The video, which is captioned: "Should probably think twice about putting you money into this man's pocket", has received a variety of comments, with most people supporting Brooke.
Monica Hong wrote: "If the owners felt that Brooke wasn't doing her job, than they should of job performed her out, using their 'apparent' surveillance with written warnings".
"I'm surprised they haven't released the 'so called' footage of Brooke lazing about ... even if she was, it's no way to talk to someone.
"Not a good business owner or leader. I'm not surprised if he speaks to all of his staff like this."
Many said they will be boycotting the store.
"He will never get my money, Darren Dags writes
Narelle Fairlie wrote that she did not think the establishment would "be operating much longer".
Annie Mae called the boss a "power tripper".
"If this is how he speaks to young women when he thinks no one is listening, just imagine how he must speak to his children!"
Kim Legg wrote: "I am sure he would not appreciate anyone speaking to one of his children or his wife, the way he spoke to this young girl".
