Grieving dad says 'I've lost my angel'

The heartbroken father of a toddler who was found dead in the roof cavity of her Mildura home hours after she was reported missing has spoken of his grief.

Homicide police are investigating the death, as father Nick Coslovich, said he had not seen his four daughters in about a month and didn't know what happened to two-year-old Nikki Francis-Coslovich, who was found dead on Tuesday afternoon.

"I've lost the most purest of my four. I've lost my baby," Mr Coslovich said, saying he had separated from the girls' mother in February.

“She would light up the room, she would take away the sadness with just one cuddle,” Mr Coslovich said.

“I’m broken. The more I think about her, the more it’s painful.

“I’ve been left with a big hole and a whole lot of questions."

Little Nikki was found dead just two hours after being reported missing in regional Victoria.

Police were called to an Oram Court address in Mildura about 3.15pm on Tuesday after a report the toddler was missing.

The girl was found dead at the home just after 5.30pm.

Her mother told police she had first noticed the girl was missing three hours after putting her down for a nap at midday, Fairfax reported.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating.

Mr Coslovich told the Sunraysia Daily: “Nikki, she had all the purity in her, the other girls have their bad sides and their good sides and they’re a nice little mix of good and bad but she had all the light in the world.

“She had this little ability no matter how bad you felt, she’d walk up, smile, and give you a cuddle. The world was all better again.

“She did that to anyone, not just me. Friends would come over and she could do that to them, too."

The devastated father described the gaping hole the toddler's death had left in his family.

“The little angel’s been taken from the world,” he added.

“I just went Christmas shopping last month...there are presents wrapped up ready to go, just waiting for my little girl to never open them.”

Tributes have poured out overnight on social media remembering the toddler overnight.

Neighbours described Nikki being a happy child, with three sisters aged under seven, who used to love playing with her doll in the quiet community.
