Tragic result after mum rejects medical treatment in favour of vegan diet

A mum has died after refusing traditional medicine in favour of a vegan diet after a breast cancer diagnosis.

Katie Britton-Jordan, 37, of Derbyshire, southeast of Manchester, was diagnosed with stage 2a triple negative breast cancer in July 2016, according to her Facebook page.

She underwent treatment earlier this year but in February her family were heartbroken to discover the cancer had developed into stage 4.

She was 37 at the time she was diagnosed but shunned mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy for veganism.

The 37-year-old told Mail Online in 2017 she felt “really fit and well” from her diet of raw fruit and vegetables but if she underwent chemo she would be “almost bedridden”, likening it to “poisoning”.

Ms Britton-Jordan noticed the lump while breastfeeding, the Sun reported.

Doctors told her it was treatable but she wouldn’t undergo treatment by the National Health Scheme.

Images from Katie’s Page on Facebook show the mum underwent treatments in Chile and Mexico.

She was filmed using an oxygen chamber; undergoing laser, magnetic and dendritic cell therapies, and stem cell therapy.

On Sunday, her husband Neil let her followers on Facebook know she had died on May 25 “with the same grace and strength she handled herself through life”.

“She was surrounded by family and friends and shrouded with love,” he wrote.

“Delilah (Ms Britton-Jordan’s daughter, 5), her 'bestie' Elsa and I went and picked flowers and herbs from the garden and placed them all around Katie. She looked so serenely beautiful.”

Her husband added their daughter “has learnt the hardest lesson at such a young age”.

“I (have) simply run out of answers when sobbing she asks 'why we have to say bye bye?’” he wrote.

“We cuddle for a mo' and then she'll suddenly tell a little story of what or how mummy would do it, start to giggle and right there! I can see the spirit, resilience, strength and everything that was and will always be in her mamma, in our little girl.

“I know some people may have their own opinions on what Katie should or should not have done but whatever that is, it does not alter her bravery and dignity over the last three years.”
