Urgent recall of popular ice cream brand sold at Coles and Woolworths

An ice cream brand has issued an urgent recall of a batch of its chocolate frozen dessert due to products being incorrectly labelled “dairy free”.

A number of the Halo Top’s Chocolate Ice Cream in the 473ml size have made their way to shelves in Coles and Woolworths stores across the country with “non-compliant labelling”.

Food Standards announced the recall on Friday, alerting Australians to the possibility they may have unwittingly purchased a product containing dairy.

Consumers with an allergy or intolerance to milk were warned they might experience a reaction if consuming the mislabelled product.

The recall affects chocolate ice cream with a batch code of 9088 and a best before date of March 28, 2021.

Anyone who purchased the incorrectly labelled product was asked to return it to its place of purchase for a full refund.

Halo Top markets itself as a healthier, lower calorie alternative to regular ice cream and produces non dairy products for vegan and lactose intolerant consumers.

The product originates in the United States.
