Urgent recall for Myer children's item over fears of injury, death

A popular children’s sippy cup is being urgently recalled over fears a defect could lead to serious injury or even death.

The Jack & Milly brand silicone cups with a double handle were sold in-store and online at Myer between November 2021 and June 2022.

A Product Safety recall notice says the silicone could tear and detach from the cup, posing a potential ingestion hazard to small children “which can lead to serious injury or death”.

Anyone who owns a cup should cease use immediately and return the item to Myer for a full refund. No receipt is required.

The cups, which come in four shades, have the style number AJMS22512.

“Myer places the highest importance on the quality and integrity of its products and apologises to customers for any inconvenience this recall may cause,” a statement on the recall notice said.

IKEA recalls coffee maker over fears it could burst

Earlier this month, IKEA recalled a coffee maker over fears it could burst during use.

The Metallisk espresso maker, which was sold around Australia and internationally, is designed to be used on a stovetop and has a stainless steel safety valve on the base.

Only the products with the silver stainless steel safety valve with date stamps between 2040 and 2204 are included in the recall.

According to the product’s manual, the base is intended to be filled with water which is directly heated on the stove – meaning scalding hot water could be released if the product were to burst.

Affected customers are being urged to stop using the item and return it for a full refund at any IKEA store.
