Uni student rushed to hospital in 'scary' Facebook Marketplace stabbing

The victim said the violent scene was 'like something you see in the movies' with WA Police asking the public for help in finding his attacker.

A young Facebook user is warning others after he was stabbed in the stomach in broad daylight while trying to sell jewellery via the popular online Marketplace with police still searching for his attacker.

Will, 20, was knifed in the stomach and thigh when the sale took a nasty turn when the pair met up in a busy Perth suburb in what he described as a "gruesome" and "crazy" altercation.

The bloody incident took place last Thursday when Will agreed to meet the potential buyer at Hyde Park in the city's inner north at about 10.30am. While he was showing the man the jewellery, the suspect fled with it, prompting Will to follow in pursuit.

CCTV of the chase shared by police shows the moment before the man turned on Will in front of onlookers, stabbing him multiple times.

"It's like something you see in the movies, you can't imagine what it's like," he told Nine News.

"I'm looking at myself and I just like see this blood just pouring out of me ... I've never seen anything like it."

The uni student had advertised the items worth about $2000 on Facebook Marketplace. In the end he required emergency surgery at Royal Perth Hospital to check if his organs had been punctured. "It's quite a scary thing, I've had some terrible dreams," he said.

Fortunately for Will, no vital organs were ruptured and he says his pain is subsiding. But more than a week on police are still searching for his attacker. On Friday Detective Acting Sergeant Millie Phelan encouraged the assailant to hand himself into authorities.

"These kinds of acts are cowardly and incredibly violent and the victim is very lucky to have escaped with no life changing injuries," she told media. "Violence of this nature will not be tolerated and is unacceptable." She urged anyone with any information to come forward.
