Uber driver killed during botched robbery
A teenager has pleaded guilty to the murder of a Queensland uber driver whose body was found dumped on a boat ramp following an attempted robbery turned fatal.
A family supporter in the public gallery said “I love you” as the teen, who cannot be identified under Queensland law, was led away.
Scott Andrew Cabrie was last seen leaving his Toogoom home on the Fraser Coast on February 6 last year, with his friends sounding the alarm after he was not heard from for days.
His Nissan X Trail SUV was found torched in the nearby town of Pacific Haven a day later.
Two teenagers and another man are accused of fatally stabbing Mr Cabrie, 47, in Howard on February 7.
Mr Cabrie’s body was found dumped near a boat ramp hours after he was reported missing.
On Monday, one of the teenagers entered pleas of guilty to charges of murder, armed robbery in company with violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and arson.
He said little during the proceedings except for “Guilty, Your Honour” when arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Peter Davis.
A psychological and pre-sentence report, along with a report on the child’s separation while in custody, were sought by prosecutors and the teen’s defence barrister.
The teenager will remain in custody.
The matter will return to court for another mention on April 22. A sentencing date has not been set.
The other teenager and the man’s matters remain before the courts.
