Tycoon jailed after son's girlfriend leaves note before her death

A shipping tycoon has been jailed for life after a court heard how his son's girlfriend killed herself when he used nude photos of the teen to blackmail her.

The body of Aleyna Aggul, 18, was found underneath a balcony after leaving a note written in lipstick, accusing her boyfriend's father of being the cause of her death.

Accused Gokhan Argin 43 – a married father of two – was named in the note left by his victim.

Her note reportedly read: "Gokhan Argin is responsible for my death."

In a notebook found at Aleyna's house, a page addressed to the suspect reportedly read: "You are a neurotic person who does not know what talking is, what humanity is."

Aleyna, who lived in the eastern Turkish city of Igdir, the capital of Igdir Province, was found dead on the ground in front of the building where she lived on September 30 last year.

The Igdir Police Department launched an investigation into the incident after discovering the evidence.

She had been in a long-term relationship with Gokhan's son, 18-year-old Gokturk Argin.

Prosecutors said the married father - who owns a shipping company - allegedly saw nude photos of Aleyna while checking his son's mobile phone.

He called the teen to his office, where he blackmailed her with the photographs. Gokhan faced allegations he sexually abused Aleyna.

The teen reportedly became depressed after the ordeal.

The father and son were arrested as part of the investigation in the wake of the teen's death and released with judicial controls.

After investigators analysed the social media accounts and phone records of the father, son, and victim, the presiding judge instructed the police to rearrest Gokhan.

The defendant was sentenced at the Igdir 1st High Criminal Court on Wednesday and jailed for life for inciting the victim to commit suicide by force and threat, four months for intentionally injuring a person, and two years and a fine of $948 for blackmailing.

In Turkey, the minimum non-parole term for a life prisoner is 24 years.
