Two charged over ‘bloody’ home invasion
Two men have been charged and another remains on the run after they allegedly impersonated police before forcing their way into a family apartment in Melbourne’s north-east this week.
Police have alleged that three men falsely claimed to be police before pushing their way into a unit at Red Hill Terrace, Doncaster East on Wednesday evening.
It’s alleged the three men demanded a man, woman and child not move before they ransacked the home and stole jewellery worth $400,000.
A scuffle broke out between the occupants and the home invaders, with photos from the scene showing blood smeared on the walls and doors.
One of the victims sustained minor injuries while one of the alleged home invaders was also injured and taken to hospital.
The 37-year-old Coolaroo man was charged with aggravated home invasion, impersonating a police officer, theft and possessing a prohibited weapon.
On Friday, police raided a Reservoir home before a 44-year-old Fawkner man was arrested.
He has been charged with aggravated home invasion, impersonating a police officer and theft.
Both men were scheduled to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Police are hunting a third man over his alleged involvement in the home invasion.
