Detectives have released CCTV images of a car connected to an incident where a man was fatally stabbed and dumped outside a hospital.

Daniel Cockerill, 45, died minutes after being pulled from a car at Casey Hospital in Berwick suffering from a stab wound at 7.30am on 26 March.

The male driver of the maroon Volvo sedan called for paramedics before getting back into the car and speeding off.

Homicide squad detectives have now released new surveillance images of the sedan - which they believe a third passenger was inside during the hospital drop-off.

Police are yet to determine the circumstances surrounding Mr Cockerill’s death and hope the images will prompt someone to come forward to provide more detail on it’s movements that night.

They appealing for assistance to identify who else was in the car with the victim - particularly, a third person they believe was inside the car at the time it pulled into the hospital.

A 40-year-old Port Melbourne man was arrested by police on the day of the incident but was released without charge.

They are keen to speak to anyone who may have information about the identity of this passenger.
