Trump: Biden campaign put out ‘Fake Story’ that he ‘froze’ during NRA speech

Former President Trump shot back at President Biden on Sunday evening after the Democrat’s campaign spotlighted what Trump called a “Fake Story” that he “froze” during his speech at the National Rifle Association (NRA) event in Dallas this weekend.

“My Speech in Dallas this weekend at the NRA’s ‘Endorsement of President Donald J. Trump,’ was attended by a Record Crowd of very enthusiastic Patriots,” Trump wrote on Truth Social late Sunday.

“The Biden Campaign, however, put out a Fake Story that I ‘froze’ for 30 seconds, going into the ‘Musical Interlude’ section, when in actuality, the 30 to 60 second period of silence is standard in every one of my Speeches where we use the Music,” Trump continued, attaching a video of the interlude.

The Biden campaign posted a clip of the pause during Trump’s NRA speech and wrote, “Trump starts playing QAnon music during his bizarre slur-filled NRA speech.”

The music in the background is a standard part of Trump’s campaign speech, and it usually signals that the former president is wrapping up his prepared remarks. In Trump’s speech Saturday, it was not immediately clear what prompted the longer-than-usual pause.

Trump, in his post, suggested the Biden campaign was deflecting by highlighting this moment in the speech.

“The reason they came up with this Disinformation is that Biden freezes all the time, can’t put two sentences together, and can rarely find his way off the stage without help,” Trump said in his post. “Donald Trump doesn’t freeze! It is a MADE UP Biden Campaign story, put out in a dying Newspaper that I never heard of, and every Reporter knows it, including the large group that was there.”

On Monday, Biden’s campaign addressed Trump’s response to its posts over the weekend.

“Trump melts down over this clip we posted showing himself freezing on stage, claiming it’s a ‘Fake Story’ (He did, in fact, freeze on stage),” the campaign wrote on the social platform X, attaching a screen grab from Trump’s Truth Social post.

Trump, on Sunday night, also hit at the Biden campaign for highlighting a moment during the former president’s Friday night speech when he leaned on a podium, and it appeared to move.

“A feeble Trump nearly falls down on stage after he leans on his podium too hard and then goes on an angry rant calling his event workers ‘crappy,’” the Biden campaign wrote in a post Friday, attaching a clip.

Trump responded, saying Sunday, “As far as the podium, I actually stopped it from falling due to good reflexes and strength, two elements which Joe Biden does not possess. Check out the clip! Crooked Joe is a completely incompetent and corrupt person, even when it comes to putting out a fake story like this.”

In an earlier post Sunday evening, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “JOE BIDEN IS NOT TOO OLD TO BE PRESIDENT – NOT EVEN CLOSE – BUT HE IS TOO INCOMPETENT AND CORRUPT!”

A spokesperson for the Biden campaign, James Singer, dismissed Trump’s criticism and suggested the former president is too focused on the posts from the BidenHQ campaign account.

“What is important to voters is not Donald Trump struggling to speak and following BidenHQ content religiously – they already knew that – it’s that he told Americans his agenda for a second term is to repeal gun safety laws, rule as a dictator, and sell America out,” Singer said in an emailed statement.
