Truck dangles off freeway bridge after crash
Dramatic images show the aftermath of a shocking truck crash on a freeway in Melbourne’s northwest, as the truck’s trailer dangles precariously off a bridge, spilling its contents over the road below.
The truck smashed over the railing on the Calder Freeway at Keilor shortly after 5pm on Tuesday, scattering a mountain of debris – believed to be chicken products – across Green Gully Road below.
The driver of the truck spent the night in hospital suffering minor injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident sparked hours of delays on the freeway, with the truck only removed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The right-hand lane of the Calder Freeway is now open at a speed limit of 40km/h, while the left lane remains closed.
VicTraffic advised that water safety barriers are being refilled, and once complete the lane will open again.
