Windsor police say a truck driver is facing careless driving charges after a transport ended up on the Herb Gray Parkway Trail.

It eventually stopped at a pedestrian overpass over Highway 401, according to authorities.

The incident was reported just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when police say a big rig was spotted near the corner of Fazio Drive and Lambton Street in south Windsor.

"A transport truck had driven on to the trail and damaged a light pole, stop sign, and fence before stopping at the pedestrian overpass," said Windsor police in a statement.

The truck sustained "significant" damage, but no injuries were reported.

Aside from careless driving, police say the trucker also faces charges for failing to ensure daily inspection and maintaining a daily log.
