'What is it?': Tiny door in new home leaves people baffled
A woman has taken to social media to determine the purpose of the tiny door she found on her wall.
Images of the miniature door were shared in a Facebook group, with the woman asking what people thought it was.
The woman explained she had just moved into this house and when the tiny door opens, there is a hole that goes down.
The photos received a tonne of responses, with the majority of people believing the small door to be a laundry chute, despite its tiny size.
“Laundry chute, I have one just like it,” one person commented.
“And a good one too, you can throw clothes on the floor and simply kick them down the hole.”
However, others were not sold on the door as a laundry chute, as it is “too small”.
“I had one and this is way too narrow,” one person said.
Some people thought it was still a possible explanation.
“You’re meant to throw a shirt or jeans down one at a time, not a whole arm load of laundry,” someone else said.
Another person suggested it could be a milk delivery box, someone else asked if it led to a bin, so one could sweep away whatever is on the floor into the door.
However, others offered up more creative answers - some innocent, some more sinister.
“That’s how the tooth fairy gets in,” one person said, and someone else suggested was Stuart Little’s house.
Others referenced The Borrowers, a novel by Mary Norton which follows a family of tiny people that lives in secret in the walls of a home.
