Three men charged after cocaine found in banana shipments

Three men have been charged after cocaine was discovered hidden in two shipments of bananas.

The Metropolitan Police said the cargo, from the Dominican Republic, was seized at Portsmouth International Port on the 20 and 26 January.

The men, aged 37, 34 and 30, have each been charged with importation of cocaine, and will appear in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates Court later on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Met Police said specialist crime officers carried out a warrant in Acton, west London, where they arrested the trio.
