'Ghostly' children at Port Arthur captured on camera

Is Port Arthur haunted? Facebook commenters are divided after an eerie image of 'children' was posted online.

In the image, posted on Australian Hauntings, transparent white silhouettes are seen in two windows of the former convict colony base.

In 1996, Martin Bryant opened fire in the café, killing 35 people and injuring 23 with a rifle.

Commenters have begun speculating on who the figures in the image could be, with many claiming to see a little boy in the left window and three children in the right window.

One said they could see a white dog's head looking out the left window, while others said they could see a lady holding a baby in the right window and a man standing beside a lady.

The history of ghostly appearances at Port Arthur goes back to 1870, when the prison was still in use and the site is currently famous for its ghost tours and draws ghost hunters from the world over.
