As some of the highest achievers from WA's top public school, these students are poised to make their mark on the world.

Perth Modern School, the only WA school to select all students on their academic ability, was a consistent stand-out performer across several measures in WA Certificate of Education exams.

It was the top-performing public school on a table comparing academic achievement based on WACE stage-three course scores of 75 or more, coming second behind private school All Saints' College.

Perth Modern also got the second-highest median Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 93.6.

Cara Holland, 17, who has the highest possible ATAR of 99.95 and topped the State for Italian, said it was a fantastic school that supported students to achieve. "I felt like we all succeeded together," she said. "There were Facebook groups set up for each subject so people kept in touch and helped each other out a lot."

Cara, who also did French, is to study science and languages.

Helena Nguyen, 17, of Wembley, who was the top WA student for ancient history after picking it up for the first time in Year 12, said she valued the support from her teachers and peers.

She attained an ATAR of 99.85 and plans to study commerce at the University of WA.
