Country crash victim airlifted to Perth

A man is fighting for life after the car he was in crashed into a tree in the Wheatbelt last night.

The 67-year-old man was a passenger in the Holden Commodore which crashed on the Great Southern Highway in Highbury, near Narrogin, at about 8pm.

He was airlifted by the RAC Rescue helicopter to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in a critical condition this morning.

The 49-year-old driver was taken to Narrogin Hospital by St John Ambulance and is understood to have received hip injuries.
