Alleged speeder on drugs charges

Police have seized drugs from the car of a man who was allegedly driving 59km over the speed limit in the Goldfields yesterday.

The 38-year-old man was pulled over at about 9.30am after allegedly driving at 169km/h in a 110km/h zone in a Hyundai i20 on the South Coast Highway, about 5km north of Pink Lake.

Police searched the car and allegedly found 18 grams of cannabis, 12 grams of MDMA pills, 12 grams of amphetamines, a baseball bat, a laser pointer and cash.

Police have impounded the car for 28 days and the driver, who is from Clarkson, has been charged with reckless driving, drug possession, drug possession with the intent to sell or supply, possessing a controlled weapon, having ready access to both weapons and illegal drugs and possessing drug paraphernalia.

He is due to appear in Esperance Magistrate’s Court on September 16.
