Popular vet returns to Kununurra

Kununurra Vet Centre will be boosted by the return of locum veterinarian Belinda Adams, who has signed on for another six-month stint at the Kimberley practice.

It will be Dr Adams' fifth time working in Kununurra having spent much of the last year travelling the world, including to South America where she did a lot of rock climbing.

"I'm excited to be back up in the Kimberley," she said. "I've been a locum for the past six or seven years because I like to travel, that's how I first came here."

"I loved it so much that I've kept coming back and I'm here for six months which is a permanent position for a short time and it gives me a bit of time to settle in for a bit."

Dr Adams, who was last in Kununurra in December 2012, arrived in town last week but is already hard at work and looking forward to the challenges the region offers.

"You get lots of interesting cases in the tropics in general, things you might not get to see that often in the city," she said.

"I'm just looking to enjoy work and hopefully everyone around me enjoys work."

Interested in animals, science and agriculture from a young age, becoming a vet was a simple career choice for Dr Adams. "The other thing is being up here for six months I'm definitely interested in getting into socialising and sports and things like that," she said.

Vet Centre owner Sarah Brett said it was great to have some stability in the clinic for the next six months and she was looking forward to working with Dr Adams.

"We've had a number of different locum vets in the clinic over the past six month but we are very excited to have Belinda back with us for the fifth time," she said.

"She is a very experienced and competent vet."
