Selwood a big doubt for Cats trip

West Coast midfielder Scott Selwood's chances of facing Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Saturday appear to be placed on a knife edge, with the vice-captain restricted to walking laps at training today.

Selwood injured his ankle in the Eagles' 25-point win over St Kilda at the weekend and would likely have been subbed off if the red vest hadn't gone to Mark LeCras (broken arm) in the first quarter.

The 24-year-old struggled through the pain, kicking almost exclusively on his left foot late in the game.

He was listed as a test on the Eagles' official injury list yesterday.

Selwood was one of a number of West Coast's senior players restricted to light duties at today's session, however that situation is not unusual under coach Adam Simpson this season.

Sharrod Wellingham took part in the full session and looks sure to return to the side after being a late withdrawal against the Saints.

Josh Hill, Mark Hutchings and first-year midfielder Dom Sheed all trained and are a chance to come into the side this week.
