Riders take to saddle at show

The top-end equestrian community embraced a rare opportunity to test their skills at the Kununurra Agricultural Show last week.

With dressage completed on Friday, hacking and in-hand started early on Saturday.

Hannah Conley started her winning streak on Little Paddocks Concerto, taking first place in the Open Ridden Galloway category. Little Paddocks Concerto was also Champion Ridden Hack.

Novice and Open Ridden Hack went to Spring Creek Passion, ridden by Mike Shaw, who also took Reserve Champion Ridden Hack.

Ros and Jess Beckhouse, from Katherine, were the best Open Pair of Riders.

Conley and Little Paddocks Concerto also won the Ridden Arabian/Derivative class.

Boonara Double Trouble (Julie Richter) was best stallion under saddle, while Kirsty Humphries on Stoneage Avaline won the Open Working Stock Horse category.

The showjumping was a one-woman competition, with Jess Beckhouse competing on three horses.
