High-flying Eagles stretch hot streak

Warmun Eagles have fired an ominous warning across the East Kimberley Football League demolishing the Waringarri Crows by 65 points in Kununurra at the weekend.

The Eagles, who currently sit second on the ladder, have been in scintillating form since losing to Ord River Magpies at home on June 21, easily accounting for Kununurra Demons and Port Wyndham Crocs before the weekend's big win.

The 19.13 (127) to 10.2 (62) win combined with the third-placed Demons shock loss to the Crocs gives the Eagles a buffer in second position, shoring up the possibility of a double chance for the finals.

The Crows, now sitting in fourth position, face tough games against the Demons, Crocs and Magpies to secure their spot in the finals.

The Crocs 11.10 (76) to 10.8 (68) win keeps their finals hopes alive, with wins in their final three games of the season and other results falling their way, opens up the chance of sneaking into fourth spot.

The Demons, who at one point sat equal top of the ladder on the back of seven consecutive wins, will be looking to bounce back from three straight losses against traditional rivals the Crows this Saturday.

A win against Crows would all but guarantee them third position. In the other northern division game Timber Creek Lions forfeited their fourth consecutive match, this time against Ord River Magpies.

In the southern division, ladder leader Halls Creek Hawks survived a scare, hanging on for a two-point win against the lowly Kundat Djaru Cats.

The 9.15 (69) to 10.7 (67) win keeps them two games clear on top from Kururrungku Roos who suffered a shock 12-point loss to Bow River Blues.

This weekend, Magpies play Crocs, Demons take on Crows, Eagles clash with Lions while in the south, Roos play Cats, Blues take on Dockers and Hawks clash with Tigers.
