Storm hits Rockingham

Rockingham Kwinana SES crews have responded to 16 callouts across the Rockingham and Kwinana areas after last night’s storm.

Operations Manager Dave Beard said the damage from the storms ranged from roof damage to fallen trees.

``There were a lot of leaking roofs and water damage to houses – people need to prepare for storms by cleaning gutters to help lessen the threat of leaking roofs,’’he said.

Mr Beard said he expected tonight’s forecast storm will bring much of the same conditions as last night’s wild weather.

``We expect another busy night and morning tomorrow but we are in a good position to get teams out to respond to any public requests for help.’’he said.

The Bureau of Meteorology has advised more bad weather is expected from this afternoon through to tonight from Perth to Bremer Bay.

It has also advised that dangerous gusts in excess of 125 kilometres per hour are possible in localised areas, including heavy showers, thunderstorms with possible hail and higher than normal tides are expected for tonight’s storm.

Conditions are expected to ease by Friday morning.
