Art partnerships form spectacular event

Excited Collie artist Keon Hall will exhibit his work at this year's Dardanup Arts Spectacular for the second year running.

Mr Hall teamed up again with Art Partners and with the help of mentor Simon Hemsley he has been able to put together a self-portrait for the arts event from May 15 to 17.

Mr Hemsley also painted a version of Mr Hall's self-portrait - with both paintings being exhibited at the event.

Boasting a similar colour palette, Mr Hall said the pair worked with ochres, which gave the paintings a related look.

"For this project, I enjoyed learning from Simon about tonal values which are the light and dark colours," Mr Hall said.

"Simon also showed me how to work with ochres, which are natural pigments."

Mr Hall is hoping to get a lift from a friend to see the exhibition, after missing last year's event due to travel issues.

"I reckon it will be awesome to see my work on display," he said.

Mentor and friend Mr Hemsley said he had enjoyed working with Mr Hall, after meeting him in the lead-up to last year's Dardanup Arts Spectacular.

"He is a very good drawer and in the 12 months I have worked with him, I have seen him become more confident and develop great line control," Mr Hemsley said.

"He is much more confident now and it is a delight to see how he has progressed."
