Work starts on Margaret River bypass
Work started last week on the southern leg of the Margaret River perimeter road.
Accompanied by a zoologist to assess and help relocate any native wildlife in the path of the roadworks, Main Roads WA crews and contractors set up south of Rosa Brook Road on Tuesday.
“Traffic management will be in place surrounding the work site (and) motorists are asked to be mindful of the changed traffic conditions,” public affairs co-ordinator Aimee Schmidberger said.
The final hurdle for the southern leg was the Department of Environmental Regulation’s acceptance of Main Roads’ offset proposal for native vegetation clearing for stage one.
About $60 million in funding was recently pledged by Warren-Blackwood MLA Terry Redman for stage two of the bypass, but no construction date has been set.
