Want a hot date for the weekend?

A community street meet and bushfire preparedness workshop will be held in Margaret River this weekend.

The event is aimed at landowners and residents who are invited to attend to find out more about how best to prepare their properties for bushfire.

Bushfire Ready facilitator Gordon Temby said the event was a great way for local people to gain some “valuable and potentially life-saving information” in an informal and friendly environment.

“The risk of bushfire is extremely high in our area and preparation is the key, ” Mr Temby said.

“The street meet provides a great opportunity for people to gain practical skills and knowledge that relates more specifically to their area and to meet members of their local brigade and Bushfire Ready Group.”

The event is organised by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services and the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River and representatives from local emergency services, the Department of Parks and Wildlife and DFES will be on hand to answer questions.

The event runs from 10am to 2pm on Sunday at 43 Horseford Road and includes a free sausage sizzle.
