Big-hearted bikers support Legacy

A group of black leather-clad bikers have shown their softer side, with a promise to give an annual donation to Legacy.

The motorcyclists from the South West Patriots, a group for ex-servicemen and women, last week gave their second donation to Legacy.

South West Patriots’ president David Cain handed over a cheque for $900 to Legacy representative Alf Mainstone as part of the annual commitment by the Patriots to support Legacy.

“We decided to take a percentage of whatever we hold in our bank account each year and give it to Legacy, ” Mr Cain said.

“We all like to support Legacy because it supports the families who are in positions they don’t want to be in.

“All the kids who Legacy supports have lost their father or mother through service.”

As a thank you to the chapter, Legacy member Alf Mainstone gave Legacy pins to the riders.

He said Legacy was always thankful for donations.

“We don’t get much government funding, so we rely on donations and bequests to carry out our work, ” Mr Mainstone said.

The Patriots undertake fundraising events throughout the year, including raffles, auctions and poker runs.
