Man, 32, attacked in home invasion

An 18-year-old Bunbury man has been charged with assault after a man was attacked in his own home on Saturday night.

The alleged offender will appear in court later this month on charges of aggravated burglary and assault occasioning bodily harm after the attack on a 32-year-old Bunbury man on Kingia Street about 9.30pm.

The 18-year-old was flown to Royal Perth Hospital with injuries believed to have been received when a window was broken during the fight.

Police will allege the 18-year-old went to his neighbour’s home with an unknown weapon.

“We don’t know what the fight was about, but it’s during this fight we believe the victim was assaulted to the back of the head with the unknown object, ” Bunbury Sen. Sgt Peter Jenal said.

The victim received a small cut to his head and has been released from hospital.

Police have not located the weapon, which they believe may have been discarded at a nearby house, and are looking for two other people who they believe were with the alleged offender.

It was the second assault reported in 48 hours after a 42-year-old cyclist was attacked on Ocean Drive near Maidens Beach about 8am on Friday.
