A man has died in a boating tragedy near Mandurah this morning.

The 72-year-old from Dudley Park was with two mates on a small sailing dinghy which capsized south of Boundary Island in the Peel-Harvey Estuary at 10.30am.

The man was pulled from the water by his friends and put on board another vessel before being transferred to a Mandurah Rescue Group boat which was sent to the area.

St John Ambulance paramedics met the rescue boat at the Mandurah town jetty just before 11am but attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful.
