Residents in Newman and Jigalong have seen their streets turned into rivers over the weekend as heavy rain hit the Pilbara - and more could be on the way.

Marble Bar road, from Newman to Roy Hill, was closed today, after more than 88mm of the wet stuff fell between 11.30pm Saturday and 9am yesterday. A further 28.8mm fell today between 9am and 6pm.

Many residents took to social media to document the floods through pictures and anecdotes. One Newman resident took to a local noticeboard to report that a "homeless" wheelie bin had made its way to Nyabalee and Pond, calling on the owner to relocate it.

At 4.30pm this afternoon, the Bureau of Meterology was predicating a chance of a severe thunderstorm with the potential of damaging winds and heavy rain, which could lead to flash flooding.

For tomorrow, the BOM said there is a 50 per cent chance of showers inland, most likely in the evening and afternoon tomorrow.
