Comedian keeps laughs coming

Community spirit was alive and well at the Dampier Community Association's comedy and music night last Friday.

Internationally renowned comedian Tommy Dean headlined the free event for Dampier residents and later in the night local act Cookie Fingers took to the stage.

Children's activities kept the little ones entertained while adults enjoyed the entertainment and food provided by Thai Lana.

The night was also an opportunity for the DCA to share with the community its 2014-2019 Dampier Community Plan and encourage residents to get on board with a number of projects.

DCA strategic planning officer Amanda Rieck said the plan had been developed from community feedback about the facilities and events people would like to see in their town, and would direct the association's focus over the next few years.

Ms Rieck said the DCA had identified eight project areas and was encouraging residents to sign up to working groups.

"There are only 10 DCA members, so we need people to spread the load," she said.

More information about upcoming DCA events and projects can be found on the association's Facebook page.
