Store claims top award

Hedland Home Hardware and Garden has taken out the 2012 Danks WA Trade Retailer of the Year award, after recognition of its support for the local trade industry.

The award, presented last month at the Danks National Trade Show and Conference in Melbourne, is given each year to the State’s leader in the trade retail market.

Owner Gloria Jacob said the store’s success was based on a passion and understanding of the trade industry.

“It is important for a trade store to have all the products tradespeople need, but imperative to also offer a widespread, high level of expertise,” she said.

“Most of our staff have a strong trade background, allowing for us to deliver on these requirements, with many having worked in the industry, offering expertise unique to their relative trades.”

Store general manager Terry Cooper-Tims said it was a massive achievement for the store and one of which staff were very proud.

“It can be hard for a store up here to remain competitive with the soaring rents and freight costs, but we’ve managed to do it and we’re very proud of that,” he said.

Danks trade general manager Mark Crotty said the store’s dedication to the trade industry made it a stand-out.

“Hedland Home Hardware and Garden has won this award through sustaining a strong trade focus and delivering with exceptional results and service for their trade customers,” he said.

“This award recognises the robust business Hedland Home Hardware and Garden has become, evolving with a strong sales growth and valued contribution.”
