After 12 years of primary and secondary education, Katanning Senior High School’s Class of 2014 entered a new stage of their lives after their valediction ceremony took place last week.

The achievements of students were recognized with an array of awards presented at the event which took place at Kobeelya House’s Kennedy Hall on Thursday.

Charlotte Leach was awarded the Best and Brightest WACE Rotary Dux Award, along with subject awards in Chemistry, Mathematics, Human Biology and Physics.

Head girl Kaitlin Eades was awarded the Katanning Shire Sports Citizen of the Year title and the Australian Defence Force Leadership and Teamwork Award.

In her speech to the class of 2014, principal Nicki Polding said she admired the willingness of the students to help others, foster their creativity and show determination to succeed in their chosen fields.

“As the years go by, I trust that you will remember Katanning Senior High School as a school where you were not only provided with an education but, most importantly, where you were treated as an individual with individual needs and aspirations,” she said.

“Although this evening marks the end of your secondary education, it also marks the beginning of your life-long education as you pursue your individual careers and future goals.”
