It's showtime in Albany!
About 20,000 people are expected to attend Albany Agricultural Show this weekend, where 4000 entries in competition classes will be judged and about 1500 ribbons and rosettes awarded.
If those statistics are not impressive enough, more than 200 volunteers have been helping get ready for the show.
Show secretary Paul Higginson is notching up his 10th year organising the show.
“I enjoy the challenge,” he said.
“The show is vital to the community and is the only opportunity a lot of people get to see agricultural pursuits firsthand.”
As well as the popular sideshow alley, other attractions will include exhibitions of farm animals including sheep, cattle and poultry, equestrian events, sheep dog trails, art and produce exhibitions and a fireworks display.
As well as being an educational experience, the show is a chance for community groups to get exposure.
This year, children younger than 13 accompanied by an adult get free entry.
The show is on Friday and Saturday, November 9-10.
