Claims 'laughable'

The proposed First Choice Liquor store on Hannan Street has hit its first hurdle after the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder council declined to make a decision on its immediate future.

The owner of 374-380 Hannan Street, Christopher Fyson, applied for a change of use from a Warehouse and Showroom to a liquor store at Monday night’s council meeting.

However, the application was sent back to an all-purpose committee meeting after issues were raised by a number of residents during public question time.

The primary issues were the proposed laneway access to the site, traffic implications resulting from the development and whether community consultation had been properly undertaken.

Mr Fyson said some of the issues raised during the community consultation were “laughable”.
