$181k funding injection

The Esperance Home and Community Care service received $181,000 from the State Government for new facilities and more weekend services.

Health Minister Kim Hames made the announcement yesterday, as part of a 7.6 per cent Statewide increase in funding for 2012-13 to $247.1 million.

Shire of Esperance president Malcolm Heasman said $88,000 for the provision of services would boost community group access, increased transport options and personal care support for individuals in their homes.

Cr Heasman said a further $93,000 would fund potential internal works to the men in sheds area, a covered trailer for the men’s barbecue group, the development of a staff training room and shade sails for the home care sensory garden. “The staff and volunteers of Esperance Home Care are very excited about receiving this significant funding and look forward to providing an even better service to over 400 people who access community support in the region, ” Cr Heasman said.

Esperance Home Care is a not-for-profit community care organisation that has grown to meet the support needs of frail older people, younger people with a disability and their carers wanting to stay living and working in the region.

“This is achieved through providing a diverse range of services and programs designed to meet the individual’s needs and is funded primarily through State and Federal Government funding,” Cr Heasman said.
