Family living in fear after blaze

A Boulder family say they are living in fear after a house fire at a vacant property in Watts Close yesterday.

The fire, which Kalgoorlie Detectives are investigating, gutted the nearby property about 2.30am yesterday.

Detectives have appealed for information, but the neighbours, who were too afraid to be named, said they had no choice but to move out of the street.

“I saw them from my bedroom – four teenagers with torches in hand,” the neighbour said. “They’re always coming around here, daytime, night time, trashing the house.

“We just moved in two or three months ago, but we’re fed up. It’s gone too far now and who knows what’s next? It feels like it’s getting uglier by the minute.”

The neighbours said they often contacted police and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder about youths vandalising the vacant properties.
