Police release name of Billabong fatal crash victim

Police have released the name of a French tourist who died when a Toyota Hiace van crashed south of the Billabong Roadhouse last Friday.

He was 28-year-old Nicolas Yves Germain Bernadine.


Police said Mr Bernadine was sleeping unrestrained in the back of the van when it rolled over about 2.15pm, 11km south of the roadhouse.

The driver, a 24-year-old French woman, was taken to Geraldton Hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the van was travelling north on the North West Coastal Highway, when it drifted into the gravel shoulder, overcorrected and rolled.
