Thousands roll-up to display

About 3000 people were enthralled with the annual Motoring Heritage Display on Saturday.

A 52 Chevy was one of the 30 vintage cars from around the world, including the United States, England, Japan and Australia, which decked out the foreshore.

People of all ages, from as young as two to as “senior” as 95, were in awe of the collection of vehicles.

Trucks which were supposed to be part of the display didn’t make the trip, but that didn’t dent the interests from the community.

Batavia Coast Veteran and Classic Car Club vicepresident Steve Couacaud said the Geraldton foreshore had never looked so majestic.

“It was pretty steady from 10am until 1pm,” he said.

“We only had four cars at 8am, but more cars rolled out. There were a couple of convertibles, which people were fascinated by.”

The display will continue next year with a broader range of collectables on show.
