The Lip - Stone and Wood's new batch

Long-time beer drinker and The Sip editor Ross Lewis casts his eye over the kegs from here and abroad.

There is no better way to celebrate a new operation than with a toast.

And Stone and Wood have decided to mark their new facility in Murwillumbah with a special brew.

Cloud Catcher is the first new beer from the plant following Stone and Wood's move from Byron Bay, the company's home since 2008. The Murwillumbah set-up was more than 18 months in the making. It has already been busy producing the highly popular Pacific Ale.

The Ale is hopped with all Australian Galaxy and Ella and has a hoppy aroma of apricots and grapefruit.

And the Stone and Wood team promise Cloud Catcher has a dry clean bitterness that will make it difficult to stop at one.

The new brew will be available in 500ml bottles and kegs from later in the week.

It tips the ABV scale at 5.5 per cent.

Cloud Catcher also fits nicely in with Stone and Wood's new motto, "Born and raised in Byron Bay, growing up in Murwillumbah".
