Firies save cat from house blaze

Firefighters resuscitated a pet cat a house fire in Scarborough this morning.

The blaze broke out in the laundry of the two-storey Nautilus Crescent property about 10am.

No-one was home at the time, but when firefighters entered the home they found an unconscious cat in one of the smoke-filled bedrooms.

The pet was resuscitated and is now being looked after at the scene.

Damage is estimated at about $80,000.

Fireighting units from Duncraig, Daglish and Osborne Park attended.

The blaze was contained to the laundry but smoke damage through the house was significant.
