She's brushed shoulders with some of the most stylish celebrities in Australia and abroad, from the fashionably famous mother-daughter duo Jerry Hall and Georgia May Jagger and supermodel Miranda Kerr to reality TV queen Kim Kardashian and songstress Delta Goodrem.

But over the next week, leading Australian fashion and style commentator Kate Waterhouse will be turning her attention to Perth's fashion circuit, having been flown in as the official guest blogger for the 15th annual Perth Fashion Festival, which kicks off tonight.

It marks the first time that the daughter of racing royalty Gai Waterhouse will attend the festival, having only set foot in Perth once before.

"I kind of think of this as my first time to Perth. I did come here once, just for a day," Waterhouse told AAA.

"So when I got this opportunity, I couldn't say no. I've always wanted to see Perth and the great designers that are here.

"There's so much talent that comes from WA and Perth, so many people are so interested in fashion here. I'm excited to meet the designers and fashionistas."

And while she'll be mingling with Perth's own fashion elite, the style-savvy stunner - who is often seen gracing the red carpet or sitting front row at some of Sydney's premier events - will also be on the ground throughout the event sharing her fashion insight on social media and her blog, katewaterhouse.com.

"I'll be blogging each day about the fashion, runway trends and things I love about the festival," she said.

"I can't wait to see all the different shows."

Perth Fashion Festival founder and director Mariella Harvey- Hanrahan said it was a big coup to have Waterhouse, who is now a freelance journalist having formerly been the fashion editor at Sydney's Sun Herald, on board for this year's event.

"I think she's fashion royalty," she said. "I was very chuffed when she said yes to coming over. It's great to see her support the West Australian fashion industry."

Waterhouse will attend a string of shows throughout the festival including Jaime Lee, An Evening with Camilla and Marc, Ellery Closing and the free Fashion Central Carillon City Fashionably Loud event.
